No nonsense Natalie and her 10-year-old son, Danny, have been through the grinder in this life. Living 7 miles outside of town on the outskirts of the Ocala Forest in northern Florida, Natalie and Danny keep to themselves. Now divorced from Scott, the abusive, narcissistic Sheriff in town, Natalie struggles to make ends meet. Her biggest concern in this life is protecting her son Danny. The last straw for Natalie’s marriage to Scott, who is not Danny’s biological father, was after a beating Scott gave Danny leaving him with mild brain damage. These days a loaded shotgun is never far from Natalie’s reach, but that doesn’t seem to stop Scott from still harassing and playing cat & mouse with them. When he’s not protecting his Mom, Danny is lost in his used comic-book collection where he can always be the hero.
